Charlie, Mark and Karyn – All out there running for HOOP UK

Over the past couple of weeks HOOP UK supporters and members have been out there, doing it for HOOP UK!

Firstly, our social media guru Karyn Taylor braved a 10k run up in bonnie Scotland. She told us that she loved it, would definitely do it again and expected to hurt in the morning!

Well done Karen who completed the 10k in 1:38:01. Brilliant!

Then this weekend HOOP UK Ambassador Charlie Walduck stretched out at the BUPA Great Manchester run and much to our delight, took his very own camera man with him in the form of HOOP UK Trustee, Mark Rowlands

Charlie is an old hand at the running game. This is his sixth Great Manchester 10k Run since losing 30 stone in weight. He has also completed no less then EIGHT consecutive BUPA Great North Runs ( half marathons).

You can read more about Charlie and Mark on their website Charlie and Marks Good Life here.

Top job guys. We are all really proud of you at HOOP UK and we LOVE the video.

You can still donate to support these amazing people and HOOP UK.

Edwina laughs in the face of fear!

eDABSEIL2HOOP member and supporter, Edwina Clarke (Ed) plucked up the courage and raised a gigantic £435 for HOOP when she took up the abseiling challenge from a water tower during an event organsised by The Rotary Club of Harlow Rye.

Edwina said:

‘Hoop has given me so much since I became a member so I decided I wanted to give something back. The support I have received since becoming a member has been amazing. There is always someone on the Facebook group to chat to and share ideas with. It’s not just about the weight loss – it’s a community and you never feel you are on your journey alone. I also applaud the support that Hoop is pledging to help young obese people. It is just so important.’

Edwina took the leap of faith with her two sons Freddie and Max (age 7 and 8) supporting her from the ground below.

‘It was great to have them at the bottom. I have to admit I was terrified, but I am so proud that I did it. My next project is to continue to get fitter and then I think I’ll go for the walk across the O2!’

Edwina’s Just Giving page is still open if you would like to add to her total.

From all of us at HOOP – THANK YOU ED!

Paul says “The Bob Graham Round is the toughest challenge I’ve ever set myself, but it’s well worth it to raise funds for such an important cause. It seems fitting that I should push myself to my limits in order to help children push theirs, and overcome their greatest life challenge.”

Paul hopes to raise a huge £100,000 to help young people and their families in their fight against obesity. DONATE TO PAUL’S JUST GIVING PAGE HERE

HOOP UK at Virgin Active Harlow

HOOP UK would like to give a great big thanks to Virgin Active in Harlow who today opened up their leisure centre for a group of HOOP UK members to come in and ‘have a go’. The idea was that we all get together and learn that getting fit and healthy may be hard work, but it is also great fun, especially when you do it with friends.
