HOOP UK is a nationwide organisation that provides support for those struggling with the issues surrounding weight management and obesity.  We do not advocate, endorse or advise any particular method of weight loss and weight management.

HOOP UK aim to:

Facilitate increased awareness and engage with the public on the issues of childhood and adult obesity.

Provide guidance and support to parents who feel challenged by their child’s or their own weight.

Improve access to appropriate evidence based weight management treatment and prevention programmes for children, young people and adults.

HOOP UK does not provide medical advice.  We are here to support those in need, and to act as a signpost to services and organisations that are able to provide specialist weight management, health, and well-being services.  Any information posted by our members should be used for educational purposes only and is not intended in any way as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Raising funds with Jessie and Lifestyles Gym

Lifestyles Gym in Wallingford are holding the last of the fundraising events whilst our Patron Jessie Pavelka is on his tour to the UK.

Complaints from parents spark new guidelines on how schools inform parents of a child’s obesity.

There was an interesting article in Friday’s Sun Newspaper by Emily Ashton with regard to new guidelines for informing parents on childhood obesity. HOOP was asked to comment. The story was reported by nearly all the major newspapers. The full Sun article is here followed by HOOP’s full response.
