Hoop is run by a small team supported by a group of enthusiastic, dedicated volunteers.
Our work is carried out in line with our Aims and Objectives within our vision and values
Here are some of the activities we have been involved in over the past year.
- HOOP UK now has 3 new Directors.
- HOOP is now working in collaboration with Public Health England on the Community Champion Programme creating regional HOOP support groups.
- The Support Side of Hoop now has 14 different groups. Our main group offers support to over 9,000 people struggling with obesity and our Extra group is specific to those who are classed as morbidly obese and with a BMI of 40 plus, we also cover pre and post weight loss surgery support, Teenagers, Families and children. Our groups are UK based but we have members from all over the world. In addition we have 7 regional face to face support groups in various areas across England.
- Hoop funds have helped to pay for 7 young people to attend More-Life Summer Camp
- HOOP has received many requests to comment in press articles and to feature in news stories on TV and Radio fulfilling our aim to bring awareness to obesity in the UK. We were recently featured on BBC 1 “Be Inspired” and the “Great North Run” programme.
- HOOP has published its second website

- HOOP has now published its third Freedom of Information report – CCG’s fall well short. The report highlights the need for more attention and funds to be directed toward the treatment of obesity.
- Funds raised have allowed HOOP to be a constant contact for all who are interested in hearing the voice of the obese person.
- HOOP members have created regional social groups throughout the country meaning members have been able to meet, enjoy an activity (often walking) and share friendship
